Success has no boundaries. At Boston Athletic Academy, it’s more than a phrase — it’s a mentality we teach every student-athlete who walks through our doors.

That belief begins with education. We know a strong academic foundation can help students unlock their dreams, create new opportunities, and change the future for themselves and their families.

The information below is designed to help Boston families better understand available financial assistance, options, and resources. For questions, please contact us anytime.

Each One, Teach One

Meet Jose Diaz, President of Boston Athletic Academy. Jose shares his background in higher education and how it could help someone achieve a better life.

Higher Education is Possible

President, Jose Diaz, shares how higher education is possible for everyone and what BAA is doing to help.

Advancing Student-Athletes Through Education, Exposure, and Opportunity

At Boston Athletic Academy, we believe every student-athlete deserves the opportunity to grow beyond the boundaries of sport. Baseball may be where many of our students first discover discipline, confidence, teamwork, and purpose — but education is what helps carry those lessons into the future.

That is the heart of AVANCE™.

AVANCE™, Spanish for “advance,” represents our commitment to helping student-athletes move forward academically, personally, and professionally. Formerly known as BAA University, AVANCE expands the student-athlete experience by creating pathways to learning, language development, technology, college readiness, and broader life opportunities.

For many young athletes, the classroom can feel just as challenging as competition. Language barriers, limited academic support, unfamiliar technology, and uncertainty about college can all affect a student’s confidence and direction. AVANCE™ exists to meet students where they are and help them build the foundation to go further.

Through AVANCE™, BAA supports student-athletes with resources that strengthen both academic performance and personal development. This includes tutoring, ESL support, S.T.E.A.M.-focused learning opportunities, exposure to technology, university tours, and assistance with college applications. Each element is designed to help students see more, understand more, and believe more deeply in their own potential.

Our approach mirrors the way great athletes are developed: through fundamentals, encouragement, repetition, mentorship, and belief. Just as student-athletes train to improve their skills on the field, AVANCE™ helps them develop the confidence to participate, communicate, ask questions, solve problems, and prepare for what comes next.

AVANCE™ is not only about improving grades. It is about expanding horizons. It is about helping students feel confident in academic spaces, comfortable exploring higher education, and prepared to take the next step in their journey. It reinforces the idea that success has no boundaries — and that a young person’s future should never be limited by language, access, or lack of exposure.

At BAA, we are building more than athletes. We are helping shape students, leaders, teammates, and future community contributors. AVANCE™ is one more way we invest in the whole person — supporting each student-athlete as they advance in school, in sport, and in life.
