ABOUT BAA

BOSTON ATHLETIC ACADEMY

The mission of Boston Athletic Academy (BAA) is to educate and train underprivileged student-athletes in an environment that recognizes their culture, language, customs, and most importantly their growth potential as individuals. BAA will provide assistance to student athletes to enable them to thrive in and out the classroom. We aim to build strong ties with local communities and plan to partner with local schools, businesses, and organizations to assist us in guiding our student-athletes.

"Manny and I genuinely relate to the youth that we mentor. Being a minority youth in this big city of ours has its challenges and obstacles, but the adults around us held us to high standards and encouraged us to rise above the noise through education and sports. It's only right that we pay it forward with today's youth. They're not just the future of our Boston, but society as a whole."

- Jose Diaz, BAA President

The core of Boston Athletic Academy is our membership and mentoring programs that offer student athletes, of all ages, after school athletic training in addition to intensive academic tutoring – both content and skill based – at the appropriate grade level. Our academic success program is designed to prepare student-athletes for the rigors of college coursework while providing guidance and assistance throughout the college application process. This included standardized test preparation, college visits, and interviews, and writing application essays. We work individually with each of our student-athletes to develop a plan for college and career readiness that best fits their academic and athletic goals.

The Boston Athletic Academy recently brought their high school student athletes to visit Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. It was special to see our kids ask faculty questions to help strengthen their own understanding of what it'll take to make it to the collegiate level. Special thanks to Amanda Matarese and Tom Englehardt for hosting us.
